Say bye bye to dark circles

If you’re like most people, odds are you wake up with tired, puffy, dark circles under your eyes in the morning. Confused about why they’re there? DIY Makeup has got you covered. Here are some of the reasons why we get dark circles, and some creative ways to help get rid of them.

First of all, not all dark circles are created equal. While a lack of sleep is one of the most common causes, it isn’t always the only source.Other causes include age, allergies, genetics, skin/sun damage, bone structure, and bad diet. These directly affect the thickness of the skin. The skin below our eyes is extremely thin, and below that skin lay our blood vessels, muscles, and tissue. This skin, especially in lighter skin tones, become translucent over time. Blood vessels, which usually appear to have a blue/greenish tint when visible through the skin, becomes more visible, and give the skin under the eyes a darker tint. Constant irritation or rubbing of the eyes further exaggerate the problem.

Bags under the eyes are a different issue. The direct reason why people get bags under their eyes, especially once they get older, is still up for debate. The most common theory is that the fatty tissues under the eyes begin to fill with water, weighing down the skin.

So, now that we know some of the causes of dark under-eye circles, what can we do ? Firstly, we do the obvious: sleep more, treat allergies, drink water, eat well, and stop rubbing our eyes. But, as anyone could probably tell you, all these are easier said than done. And even if you do manage to balance a healthy lifestyle with a busy schedule (props to those who do!), there’s a chance that you may still have dark circles. It’s a losing battle.
