I would say I’m pretty good at doing my makeup.
I watch my fair share of makeup tutorials on YouTube, and I can confidently make my way around an eye-shadow palette.
But still, I would never call myself an expert at makeup — and artists like Mimi Choi are exactly why.
According to Allure, Mimi is a 31-year-0ld makeup artist from Vancouver, and her incredible work has been taking Instagram by storm.
I’ve seen some pretty incredible makeup transformations, but I have to say, I’ve never seen anything like Mimi’s work before.
From transforming her fiancé into a dog to adding eyes to her face, Mimi creates works of art that are so impressive, they could easily live in a museum. But the truth is even more impressive: They exist only for a little while on someone’s face.
When it comes down to it, Mimi is entirely changing her body with makeup. It truly is remarkable.

When she’s not creating mind-bending works of art on her face, Mimi Choi looks like your typical 31-year-old. But give her a paintbrush and some makeup, and things change fast.
Mimi told Allure that she takes inspiration from the things around her, from food to art.
Mimi, who used to be a teacher, says her main goal “is to beat myself from yesterday because I’m the biggest critic and competition to myself.”
Mimi told Allure that she uses a paintbrush and everyday makeup to produce her incredible works of art — the kind of stuff you could get at the drugstore or a standard makeup store. She doesn’t usually use special-effects makeup.
She can even make her own face disappear using makeup. There’s no editing on this picture — just some serious talent. If you look closely enough, you can see Mimi’s nose, eyes, and mouth covered in black paint.
From her small looks to her big ones, Mimi consistently pushes the boundaries of makeup and art in an incredible way.
And it’s not just on her face, either. Mimi can even transform a foot into a sneaker using makeup.
What do you think of Mimi’s surreal makeup creations? If I could re-create any of her work for Halloween, I totally would!
